THE TIMES THEY ARE A’CHANGIN’

WELCOME BACK DYLAN
The Jags are delighted to announce the signing of Dylan Lawrence from Elgin City.

Dylan will not be a stranger to Seafield Park as he was here for some of the 21/22 season before being re-called to Elgin.
Co-Manager Bobby Beckwith is looking forward to Dylan playing regularly “as he scores goals, he’s quick and he’s strong. Dylan is still a young lad and his best days are very much ahead of him.”.
Dylan is our fifteenth new signing as The Jags totally revamp our playing squad and everyone associated with the Club both on and off the park, and on the “terraces” are really looking forward how the new faces will perform.

BUCKIE THISTLE PRE-SEASON FRIENDLY – KICK OFF 2pm

On Saturday (29th) we welcome last season’s HL winners Buckie Thistle to Seafield Park (KO 2pm).
This is an SFA approved friendly and as such there will be a referee and two assistant referees so there will be an admittance charge of £5 per adult. For this game there will be no charge for concessions ie over-60’s and ages 12 to 15 and under 12’s accompanied by an adult will, as usual, get in free – as will anyone in a Strathspey Rovers shirt!!
Co-Manager Bobby Beckwith was quoted in the P&J this week saying that The Jags have revamped their entire squad this summer and was very happy with the business they have been able to do.
“I think we’re more or less there in terms of what we’re looking for with the squad. The club has done very well to bring in the players we have done and now it’s up to us to see what we can do on the pitch. We’ll be stronger this season and it’s up to us all to make everything click to move the club forward.”

With a brand new team on the park and a brand new set up off the park, we are hoping that a lot of local support will turn out and we look forward back to welcoming them to Seafield Park for what hopefully will be an exciting new dawn for the Jags.

BALLOAN FC STRATEGIC PARTNERSHIP
STFC is delighted to have entered into a strategic partnership with Balloan FC in regards to youth development.

James Fraser, Bobby Beckwith and Fraser Tulloch

Pictured are James Fraser, chairperson of Balloan FC, Jags co-manager Bobby Beckwith and Director of Football, Fraser Tulloch and James said that he was “thrilled to be part of the new partnership marking a significant milestone in Balloan’s history”

He then went on to say “that the success of their youth teams in the Moray Firth Youth League and Highland Football League over the past few years has been nothing short of remarkable and heaped praise on the hard work of the coaching staff, committee members and the community. The teams have recently won both the under-16 and and under-18 in their respective regions as well as the winning the overall under-16 title for the association. The partnership will hopefully create a path for promising young players to achieve their full potential”

Jags’ Director of Football Fraser Tulloch said “I am delighted Strathspey Thistle will work in partnership with Balloan FC.  Both clubs recognise the importance of discovering and nurturing both players and the coaching support staff behind them.

The DNA of STFC long-term needs to support the development of our own local players, and combined with Balloan this strengthens our goal to create opportunities for northern talent to feel safe and express themselves.”

ASCOT LADIES DAY
Committee member Heather Horton organised a special fund raising event at the Speyside Hotel in Grantown coinciding with Ladies Day at Royal Ascot which raised funds for The Jags and the Highland Hospice.

Lasting from 12.30 until 5pm, there were thirty ladies and gents in attendance.
The lovely 2 course lunch consisted of a choice of salmon with potatoes and vegetables or breadcrumbed chicken as main with a lemon possett to follow.
Andrea took the best dressed lady trophy and prize and Gordon took home the best dressed gentleman.
It was a lovely afternoon with the winner donating their winnings to the 2 receiving beneficiaries- STFC and the Highland Hospice.

ABLE TO ADVENTURE
Using our facilities on Wednesday at Seafield Park and the adjoining field, were Badenoch Shinty Memories who were liaising with www.able2adventure.co.uk (with assistance from senior GGS pupils) to allow residents of Lynemore Care Home the opportunity to experience the joy of cycling through access to lightweight pedal cycles of bespoke specialist design. The bikes are manufactured here in Grantown by www.equaladventure.org.

Everyone had a great time especially our Lottery Convenor Graeme Stuart who was our go-between the parties involved.

THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN

The new season starts here……the boys are back and in the town……

All ready to go….

A cold Saturday morning here in Grantown was no obstacle for the boys as they convened for their first training session.
Although there were one or two absentees due to previous commitments, there was an excellent turnout and with one or two old faces, they were put through their paces by co-managers Bobby Beckwith and Ronnie Sharp aided by Robbie Flett.

Hey guv…Ronnie, Bobby and Robbie

Chatting to one or two of the guys everyone enjoyed their first session and were very much looking forward to the coming season.

Forget Taylor Swift and Glastonbury – this is the real hot ticket of the summer

On the 6th of July 2024 we will have our club fun day at Seafield Park in Grantown.
We will kick off the day with a football match starting at 3pm where we will face Grantown FC in a match that is a ten year anniversary celebrating when they won the Junior League.
Also we will have inflatable children’s entertainment from @Cairngorm Castle’s.

Later on in the day we will have live music from local band Cadence on an outside stage. We also will have a marquee up all day with cocktails from Kings Cocktails, with the local hero Jon Wood from Grantown Diner & Takeaway doing a barbecue and supplying food for the day.
We are hopeful of a great day and great weather.

See you there!

THE TIMES THEY ARE A’ CHANGIN’

Well, it just keeps on happening…….a new CEO, the return of a midfielder and a French striker…….a tournament and rebuilding….plus….it’s all here sportsfans !!!
I’m struggling to keep up with it all……..

Exciting times indeed at Strathspey Thistle Football Club

STARTING OVER AGAIN

Strathspey Thistle CEO Grant MacKellar and Chairman Donly “Digger” McLeod

While we go through a period of changes not only in playing personnel and within the football department of STFC, the changes go to the very top.
We have a new majority shareholder and C.E.O. in the shape of Grant MacKellar (pictured alongside our Club Chairman Donly McLeod). Grant is a successful local businessman who wants to help STFC modernise and develop in almost all areas.

A word from Grant, our new C.E.O.
“It gives me great pleasure to become involved again with Strathspey Thistle but this time as majority shareholder and CEO.
It started in 1993, I was nine years old and my Dad, Tom MacKellar, along with his two brothers Duncan and Fraser convened the first meeting which created the team we know now and supported as Strathspey Thistle.
It is my intention to enhance the playing staff and, along with a new management and coaching team in place, we hope to greatly improve our performance and results. Recruitment has already started and will continue, but that is only the beginning as I have also began the process of upgrading the facilities at Seafield Park which will give the town and the wider area of Badenoch and Strathspey a competitive team to support and to be proud of for many years to come.

Welcome Grant, now….let’s get to work!

GORDON McNAB

Joining us at Seafield Park is Gordon McNab.
Gordy brings a wealth of experience and is a very talented footballer with a great resume from previous clubs and achievements.
Gordon was previously a Highland league winner with Forres mechanics in season 2011/12, and then became Nairn County’s players’ and supporters’ player of the year in season 2019/20.
He was also the North Region Junior Football League Player of the Year in season 2014/15 when he was with Nairn St Ninians.

Apart from the above clubs he has also played for Wick Academy, Rothes, Huntly, Clach, Ross County, as well as a spell with The Jags when starting out on his career in 2009/2011.

So welcome back Gordy…

DOGUIE DOEIMASSEI MULLER

Doguie Doeimassei Muller is a young French striker/winger who came through the ranks at the West Ham development academy in London, played for Fort William last season in the North Caledonian League and flew in from France to sign for The Jags before heading back to complete his holiday.
Doguie has signed a two-year contract and is moving to Grantown as he has very much enjoyed his time in Scotland so far.
The Jags fans can’t wait to see what this young prospect can achieve with us.
Welcome to Seafield Park Doguie…….

ANNUAL FOOTBALL TOURNAMENT

Last Saturday (30May) saw twenty five teams of Under 8’s, Under 10’s and Under !2’s converge on Seafield Park and the neighbouring Grammar School pitch for the annual tournament.

Approximately two hundred and fifty young people came to play from towns such as Aberlour, Dufftown, Keith and Nairn. Jags web visited in the morning and was very impressed at the professionalism of the Rovers organisation and how they were running the events of the day.

Part of the large crowd over the five pitches

The sun shone and the winners of the U-8’s, U-10’s and U-12’s were all home winners, Strathspey Blues with some very promising youngsters in every team competing….congratulations to all who took part in what was a great day’s entertainment.

We hope with all the changes surrounding The Jags and with two of the Rovers’ committtee members joining us in our committee we all feel this will be massive stepping stone to greater co-ordination between us all involved in football in the Strath and hopefully the wider community too.

We look forward to welcoming a Rovers’ presence at the home games next season.

BUILDINGS TOO……

Sporting Director Josh Horton’s building company Horton Homes are renovating and upgrading our changing facilities or dressing rooms…. This is the start of many changes in and around Seafield Park in the coming months and years – yet more excitement…

MARTY

As ever we thank Marty’s Designs for all the graphics we pinch from the Jags FaceBook page – this is his new design for the close season and our new FB Header and one we hope to can live up to ….and we look forward to many more designs and communications from Marty next season….
