Strathspey Thistle made the 270-mile round trip to Harmsworth Park, Wick, on Saturday 1st August and returned home with a memorable victory.
“The Strathy Jags” recorded their second win ever against Wick Academy at the ground where they played their first Highland League match, also on 1st August back in 2009. It was also the first time Wick Academy had failed to score against Strathspey Thistle on their home ground.

Strathspey Thistle, playing their first Breedon Group Scottish Highland League fixture in their new yellow and royal blue away strip, produced some superb football despite the heavy rain showers.
The visitors almost made the perfect start in the third minute when Josh Race went close to giving Strathspey the lead, only to see his effort come back off the frame of the goal when it looked certain to go in.
Strathspey’s pressure finally paid off just after the half-hour mark. A good move was rounded off when Josh Race set up ROBBIE THOMPSON, who made no mistake to put the visitors ahead.
The Jags could, and perhaps should, have extended their lead before half-time, but they went in at the interval 1-0 in front.
Wick Academy came more into the match in the second half, but despite enjoying more of the ball, they never really tested trialist

With just two minutes remaining, substitute Shaun Morrison produced a powerful run and cross to set up the in-rushing ANDREW GRIEG, who fired the ball back across goal and into the far corner of the net for his first goal for Strathspey Thistle.
The photo shows him wheeling away in celebration after sealing a fantastic away win.
This result sets Strathspey Thistle up nicely for the visit of Buckie Thistle to Seafield Park on Wednesday night, with kick-off at 8pm.
